BIOGRAPHY

KLEMENS HUFNAGL is a Vienna, Austria based cinematographer who studied at the Vienna Film Academy and was granted a scholarship for the 2011 Budapest Cinematography Masterclass led by VILMOS ZSIGMOND.

Since 2013 the films he photographed frequently premiered at international festivals and won numerous awards.

His first feature MACONDO was selected for the Main Competition of the 2014 BERLINALE. The second collaboration with director Sudabeh Mortezai JOY won two awards at VENICE and the Main Competition at the LONDON Film Festival. Mortezais third feature EUROPA premiered at the Sarajevo Film festival 2023.

For his work on THE EREMITES which also premiered at VENICE Hufnagl won BEST CINEMATOGRAPHY at the Austrian Film Awards 2019 HUMAN FACTORS his second collaboration with Ronny Trocker was selected for the SUNDANCE World Dramatic Competition and the BERLINALE Panorama in 2021.

Other feature films include the horror film THE DARK (TRIBECA Film Festival 2018), the documentary BROTHERS OF THE NIGHT (BERLINALE 2016, BEST CINEMATOGRAPHY RIDM Festival Montreal) and MOVEMENTS OF A NEARBY MOUNTAIN (BEST CINEMATOGRAPHY Diagonale Festival 2019).

With director Catalina Molina Klemens Hufnagl also shot numerous TV films for Austrian television.
